Protac Ball Cushion

The Protac Ball Cushion can be used to help adopt a stable and dynamic sitting position, and improve concentration.
It looks just like a normal seat cushion, but is filled with small plastic balls. These balls are flexible, and when you sit on them they move and help to improve sitting balance and core stability stimulating back and abdominal muscles.
The Ball Cushion helps many children, especially those who suffer from concentration difficulties and learning disorders. It is also useful for sensory motor training.

Case studies
Poor posture/restlessness
An eight year old boy who had low muscle tone in his postural muscles, as well as hyper mobile joints, found it difficult to sit still and properly on his chair both at school and at home. He slumped down and supported himself by placing his upper body on his desk, the desk next to him, or on the dinner table. He was restless and found it extremely difficult to get comfortable.
When he was provided with a Ball Cushion, his posture and his ability to sit still immediately improved. It made such a difference to him that the school bought one for him to use in the classroom, and he also received funding to buy one for home.
Hyperactivity
A ten year old boy with ADHD had a high degree of physical and mental unrest, and concentration difficulties. He was very disruptive in the classroom, moving around on his chair and making noise.
He now sits on a Ball Cushion, which helps him to remain calmly seated for much longer than before. He is more focussed and less noisy, and is now able to sit still and concentrate on a range of activities.
